Auch weiterhin keine First-Party-Spiele Day One auf PS Plus
Im Gegensatz zu Microsoft, wo man First-Party-Spiele in der Regel ab dem Erscheinungstag im Game Pass veröffentlicht, hat Sony seine exklusiven Spiele bisher nicht ab dem ersten Tag in ihrem Abo-Service PS Plus zu Verfügung gestellt. Laut Nick Maguire, Vice President and Head of Subscriptions, wird sich daran auch in Zukunft nichts ändern, wie er in einem Gespräch mit GamesIndustry.biz bestätigte.
Maguire: We’re happy with our strategy. Putting games in a bit later in the life cycle has meant that we can reach more customers 12, 18, 24 months after they have released. But for us, letting those [first-party] games go out to the platform outside the service first… that’s working and that will continue to be our strategy moving forward.
Man sei glücklich mit der gewählten Strategie. Spiele erst später in das Abo-Service aufzunehmen, ermögliche mehr Kunden, auch Monate nach dem Release, erreichen zu können. Diese Vorgehensweise funktioniere gut und man werde diese Strategie auch in Zukunft fahren. Die Frage ob sich das in Zukunft ändern könnte, kommentierte Maguire damit, dass man ständig an der richtigen Strategie arbeite um vorwärts zu kommen.
Schon letztes Jahr sagte PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan, dass man nicht plane First-Party-Spiele Day One auf PS Plus zu veröffentlichen.
Jim Ryan: We feel if we were to do that with the games that we make at PlayStation Studios, that virtuous cycle will be broken. The level of investment that we need to make in our studios would not be possible, and we think the knock-on effect on the quality of the games that we make would not be something that gamers want.
