Ob sich die Walt Disney Studios wohl gerade ärgern?
James Gunn, der Guardians of the Galaxy-Regisseur, soll sich in Verhandlungen mit Warner Bros. befinden. Gegenstand dieser Verhandlungen soll das Drehbuch und die Regie von Suicide Squad 2 sein.
Dies wäre eine kleine Sensation, war doch Suicide Squad ursprünglich als Gegenentwurf zu Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy geplant. Dass James Gunn überhaupt für das Sequel von Suicide Squad in Frage kommt, haben die Walt Disney Studios und ein Shitstorm gegen seine Person auf Social Media zu verantworten.
Zuletzt soll Gavin O’Connor an Suicide Squad 2 gearbeitet haben. Gerüchte im Internet verdichten sich jedoch, dass seine Version des Skripts dem Drehbuch für den anstehenden Birds of Prey-Film zu sehr geähnelt habe. Dies könnte James Gunn – sollte er wirklich übernehmen – dazu veranlassen, eher an einer Art Reboot als an einer direkten Fortsetzung zu arbeiten.
Es bleibt spannend. Suicide Squad 2 soll bereits 2019 in den Kinos erscheinen. Ob dieser Zeitplan immer noch realistisch ist, bleibt abzuwarten.

On the Gavin O'Connor front in relation to SS2, hearing the story he had for the sequel ended up almost being identical to the BIRDS OF PREY story and when that film was given the go ahead to go before SQUAD 2, O'Connor grew frustrated and fell off project to do HAS BEEN instead
